Our Approach

The Springtime School staff successfully uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles as part of regular daily instruction. We believe a child who is happy and relaxed is better able to learn. That’s why we take whatever time is needed to truly understand your child’s strengths and needs. We also consider previous life experiences, present-day challenges and future goals. Using this information, we create an individualized education program (IEP) that engages your loved one in their education, helps to enhance their progress, and strives to improve their long-term abilities.

The Springtime School offers:

  • Small classroom sizes with no more than six students to a teacher

  • A nurturing environment

  • Individualized attention

  • Certified teachers, behavior analysts, speech pathologists and occupational therapists

  • Highly trained behavior technicians

  • Physical therapists, on an as-needed basis

  • A new, enhanced program to address challenging behavior

Our comprehensive programs are designed to meet the specific needs of each student and their families. Our certified teachers, behavior analysts, speech pathologists and occupational therapists team with highly trained behavior technicians to teach every student a range of skills, with a focus on:

  • Communication

  • Behavior

  • Activities of Daily Living

  • Vocational Skills

  • Community-Based Instruction

  • Social Skills

  • Academics

Parents and caregivers are primary members of a child’s support system, full partners in every aspect of care and learning. We encourage a collaborative, innovative and compassionate approach to learning that respects the individual’s needs at any given time. We understand that everyone learns differently. It is at the heart of everything we do.

The Springtime School is located within Potential’s Newtown facility. Some students receive both Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) from Potential and education at the Springtime School. Many benefit from the consistency offered by a combined school and home services program.
