Description

Special Education Paraprofessionals at Potential Inc. use Applied Behavior Analysis ABA principles as a part of daily instruction at our private school in Newtown, Bucks County. As a Paraprofessional, you'll work one-on-one with students ages 6 - 21 on the Autism spectrum who have not been successful in other programs, who have challenging behavior, or who have an additional medical diagnosis that impacts learning. Each student has a unique plan, or Individualized Education Program IEP, created to engage them in their education and improve their long-term abilities. Focus areas include communication, behavior, activities of daily living, vocational skills, community-based instruction, social skills, and academics.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WILL YOU GAIN FROM THIS ROLE?

After training, you'll be able to work with children of varying levels of need, implement Applied Behavior Analysis ABA therapy programs following each client's individualized treatment plan, receive and incorporate feedback from your client's Board Certified Behavior Analyst BCBA in future sessions, maintain client safety and confidentiality, and accurately document client sessions by collecting data, writing session notes, and completing service logs timesheets. You'll gain the training and experience required to take the Registered Behavior Technician RBT exam and earn the RBT credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board BACB after an initial 6-month apprenticeship period if you so choose.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to engage, play, and keep up with active children and adolescents
  • Comfortable coming into contact with bodily fluids and assisting clients with toileting needs
  • Basic proficiency with technology
  • Ability to attend one of our paid training courses
