Announcing: all day workshop- Relationships, Autism and Sexuality

A workshop: ”Relationships, Autism & Sexuality”. Saturday, September 16, 2017

Newtown, PA. On Saturday, September 16, Potential will host a full day workshop at their headquarters, 170 Pheasant Run, Suite 100, Newtown, PA 18940.

The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Bobby Newman, the first author on thirteen books regarding behavior therapy, the philosophy of behaviorism, the autism spectrum disorders, and utopian literature (books will be available). The workshop will start at 9:00 am and run to 4:00 pm with an hour break for lunch (not included). Snacks and light beverages will be provided.

There is a registration fee of  $45  for parents and family members and $65 for professionals which includes 6 CE credits, of which 3 are for ethics. To register click here.

The presentation will describe guidelines for sex/relationship education for people diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum.  Organized into “do” and “don’t” tips from an Applied Behavior Analytic perspective, case study material and research will be provided to help to organize an education effort.  As this is a complicated area with legal implications, much of this talk will be aimed at serious issues that can have enormous implications for the lives of those involved.

Kristine Quinby, Founder and CEO of Potential, commented:”We are excited to have a foremost authority on the subject of autism and sexuality come to Newtown to conduct this important workshop. We expect participants will be able to incorporate the acquired knowledge into their teaching and parenting expertise.”

Potential, serves the autism community from age ages 1 to 64. In 2016, Potential delivered over 40,000 hours of service to its clients. Their therapists are trained in ABA, Verbal Behavior (VB), and services may be delivered at home, the clinic, a school, or in the community. Each client’s strengths and weaknesses are assessed to design a comprehensive program unique to his/her specific needs.
